when the Dems allowed Clarence Thomas to assume Thurgood Marshall's seat over 20 years ago. They solidified that hold by refusing to filibuster Alito and Roberts.

No Dem appointee will be approved unless we control the senate (and maybe not even then, given some of the Vichy Dems in that body). The GOP will filibuster any Dem appointee PERIOD. So, if a vacancy occurs, it will not be filled unless a conservative to the right of Scalia is appointed.

In the mean time, conservatives judges will continue to set up cases for the Scalia Five to rule on, further undermining democracy.
