Had a friend in the army who pointed out several years ago, that only once had the winner in the scholastic news presidential vote (voting my elem and junior high kids) not been elected president.
That is because they reflect the voting patterns of their parents
I think the only one was Reagan-Carter (the SN vote was mid September and the tidal wave began in early October)
