3. "You'll pay out of your own pocket to vote for any Republican this year."

If your friend is smart enough to ask for evidence, cite the fact that in July, all but four Republicans in Congress voted to block your friend's tax cut extension so that rich people can continue to sink our nation's finances by running up huge deficits.

They will continue to do so if they are reelected.

Republicans can pay themselves by voting all-D or staying home and letting responsible Americans do the heavy lifting for them.

I would recommend against trying to play on the empathy of Republicans. They have little for anyone not directly connected to them, and simply do not understand how their positions punish the innocent and reward the evil.

But hit 'em in the wallet, and all of a sudden they don't want that to happen to anyone else ever again.

So I say hit 'em in the wallet, where their hearts are.
