8. I am not sure there has ever been a genuine national debate shown,

in the original meaning of the term, since the invention of television. What today is euphemistically called, a "debate", is just a glorified press conference. A real traditional debate would entail each candidate laying out their positions and allowing them to interact with and question each other. "Moderators" should be irrelevant to the process.
