Romney is a placeholder, The GOP is looking at 2016 and not this election cycle. They will shoot to control the House & Senate certainly and use those to block anything proposed by President Obama. They will also work out different means of voter suppression and campaign tactics courtesy of Citizens United, yet they are not trying to win this one.

Romney was the choice well before the primaries even started, however it is worth watching who he picks for VP as that could well be the set up for the next time around.
