benefit of the change that is advocated. Non-violence seeks to achieve change through cooperation and consensus.

Violence places the focus not on the substance or worthiness of the change that is advocated but rather on whether those wanting change have the force, the strength, the weaponry and the cruelty to impose the change on the unwilling.

Change achieved through non-violence is likely to be more enduring because it is willingly embraced not fearfully clutched.
