Gets away with his BS by playing off the fact that he was a victim, POW. there's probably something seriously wrong with him after his ordeal and you wanna sympathize with him and show reverence and gratitude for his service. You'd hope he was a gracious POW and use his position for better dialog in the Senate. But NO...he just plays up this militant know it all role which never makes sense to rational people except those that want to ingratiate themselves to him...sad!
