5. What's good about this solution is the Repubs don't have any reasonable objection.

If they got rid of the filibuster entirely (something I wouldn't mind), Repubs could start crying about "oppression of the minority". Of course it would be bullshit but you know the media would carry water for them.

This way, we're simply returning to the way it used to be for years.
