3. I used to loathe Chris Christie....

I still don't like him and his anti-union tactics, his attacks on public education, etc.

But it is clear he is a pragmatist. He has a heck of a mess in his state. He knows NJ alone can't deal with the aftermath of Sandy. He recognizes that sometimes government is necessary and that in these cases the federal government is a great partner to have.

Obama ginned up his people to be prepared for Sandy and has been there to support Christie and other local officials since. There will always be hiccups in any response effort but by and large I think the response has been fairly effective.

I wonder if Christie stepped back after he saw all the destruction and thought what would have happened if Mittens were President? Would FEMA even exist or if it did would it be on funding life support? Would Mittens be a partner in helping the citizens of New Jersey or would he be too focused on helping his rich buddies.

Trust me, I"m not embracing Christie but one does have to wonder if he doesn't realize that Mittens would have been a disaster in a disaster.
