Ecological systems, especially closed ones, are a lot more difficult than these guys seem to think. Case in point, fresh water fish farming takes things like mosquitoes, young fish live on the larvae.

Anything on the surface is going to be risky. With no stmosphere to protect it, everything aimed at the surface gets through. A tiny pebble traveling at tens of thousands of KPH would turn a pressurinzed oasis into an airless desert instantly.

I knew people who researched this type of closed system back in the 70s and it seemed every problem they solved led to ten new ones.
