by an obscure tribe of people who attempted to document their encounters with a Supreme Being or possibly aliens from another solar system.

They had very little scientific knowledge therefore it is not surprising that by our standards today their beliefs are out dated. While we are far more advanced we still have a long ways to go before we can answer the questions, "How did we come to be?", "Why are we here?" and "Where do we do when we die?"

One thousand years from now, if our species still exists, our views today will be be obsolete and ridiculed. Even then we may not know the answers to those simple universal questions.

Hopefully by that time we will have journeyed to the stars and found other intelligent life forms. To some of those we might be viewed as gods if we chose to interact with them. We may also encounter civilizations far more advanced then we are. In such cases we can only hope that the contact is peaceful.
