(813 posts)17. Actually, Florida is usually somewhere in the middle of the pack
when it comes to gun violence, depending on whose stats you're looking at. For some reason though, it's become a favorite whipping boy when it comes to things gun-related. Lots of states have higher per capita rates. However, for some reason the news is lovingly sifted and cherry picked for anecdotes from Florida. I suspect it has more to do with residual animosity from the 2000 election debacle, which involved a relative handful of players and had nothing to do with guns, than anything else.
