4. What a ridiculous and misleading editorial.

The author deceitfully implies that Jindal now agrees with all or most of his gun control idea. However, a careful reading of the article only notes that Jindal's call for "bolstering background checks" is limited to ensuring that relevant agencies actually timely provide the NICS database with the proper and accurate information as is already required by law. This position is supported by most in the gun rights community who have no desire to see felons, convicted domestic abusers, or those adjudicated a danger to themselves or other, from possessing firearms. More importantly, it emphasizes and supports the gun rights view that before any more gun control legislation is even considered, the government must ensure it is actually enforcing the rules already passed into law and readily at their disposal. Government screw-ups concerning background checks cannot justify yet more laws, and worse, makes government itself look incompetent to the benefit of Republican politicians.
