I'm so sorry for your loss. They do tend to take a piece of our heart, don't they?

There is always guilt. Regardless of how they leave. But I don't think they want us to feel guilty. I think they want us to go on. Perhaps they have some control over how they choose to exit. We just don't know.

I've been in rescue for many years and have lost many. Each was a different and unique passing. But in all of those years, I can honestly say that whether by natural means or through the help of our beloved and kind vet, I've never seen one pass without calm and peace. I am grateful for that.
