The cobbler you posted is a cake like cobbler which I've made. However, my mom would make a cobbler using pie dough she did a two layer crust. Fruit, then prebaked crust, more fruit and the other prebaked crust. I prefer the pie dough crust to the cake like crust.

I never made the pie dough cobbler as a kid, but did make the cake like cobbler. After leaving home I make my crusts using the pecan tassey crust (it uses cream cheese in the dough) which adds another unique flavor.

Now you gotta get your Texas hubby to try making it with the pie dough. It is YUMMY, especially with fresh home made whipped cream.
