He wanted revenge, Bibi wants to pin the AMIA attack on Iran (very hard to do, given that the building was blown up from the inside), and the bumbling Nisman was worth more to both of them dead than alive.

Nisman's death suited both of them - and of course Argentina's right-wingers, who squeaked into power that November thanks largely to the resulting fracas.

It's of course no coincidence Nisman's debunked claim (called out as a lie by Interpol) is being dredged up now: Macri thinks he can use it to put Kirchner away, and Bibi thinks he can use it to lure the easily-led Cheeto into bombing Iran.

Cristina Kirchner herself frequently referred to the case being used as a "geopolitical pawn."

Bibi's wrong though. Very few U.S. voters care about anything that happened in Buenos Aires. He'd have to stage a bombing in Israel's DC Embassy - and really make it look like Iran did it - for it to even register in U.S. network news anymore (God forbid - though I certainly wouldn't put it past Bibi to try it).

Interesting times, these.
