didn't (besides Nader almost certainly costing Gore the election) - and they were more well-known than Anderson.

I don't see many people flocking to the little-known Anderson outside of Utah, which will be blood-red anyway.

Plus, the few progressives who are disappointed in Obama will likely still want to vote for him so as to block Romney, Gingrich, or whomever from getting into the White House.
