(51,907 posts)Regardless of the final tallies this week, congratulations to each of you and your respective organizations for all of the work done over this past year to register, inform, and turn out voters. The initial results demonstrate the power of our combined efforts to make change at the polls.
Now that we have done what we can as voters, we transition back to making change through direct action
something that Walmart workers have done with great courage and determination over the past few months. Please join these brave striking workers in actions leading up to, and including, Black Friday!
To better understand who these workers are, and why they are taking action, please view this powerful video, "Why are we standing up to live better?":
How You Can Stand Up to Support Striking Walmart Workers
Attend our region's biggest action to support local workers and send a message to Walmart that retaliation will not be tolerated: Thursday, November 15th, 10:30am - 12noon at the Federal Way Walmart ( 1900 S. 314th St. , Federal Way 98003)
To RSVP or for more information, contact Elena Perez (206.359.1885; [email protected]).
If you cannot join us, please make a donation to support striking Walmart workers on Black Friday:
The courage being shown by these workers is an inspiration. Please consider sponsoring a striking Walmart worker for four hours and donate $35.24 (the average wage in the U.S. for a Walmart worker is $8.81/hr).
