(6,238 posts)That is why I don't think it is possible to build Socialism in a single country, no matter how large or powerful that country might be. It has to be international to have any real chance of survival. That's why (in my opinion) the USSR was forced to adapt such authoritarian measures because it was so isolated at the time. If the revolution had managed to spread to Germany things might have turned out very different. The conditions in Russia forced them to go that route. This is part of the reason why, while I firmly support the actions of the Greek working class, I get kind of wary when I hear some socialists talk about revolution there. Unless that spreads to the rest of Europe, it won't last. Sorry, I know that might be kind of of off-topic from what you and Josh are talking about, but I just thought I'd give my two cents.
