I once had a summer job driving one of those swan boats - and there was a water snake that liked to sun himself on the dam at the end where we used to turn around - and I used to shoo him out of the way if I thought my boss might spot him.
There were also snapping turtles and they were paranoid about lawsuits and when they threatened to destroy them I made a big fuss - so my boss boxed up the first one and gave him to me. I called my Dad, who knew where there was a whole colony of them, so he came to pick me up and we took the turtle there and let him go. It got to be a regular thing...
When I was a kid, I had numerous frogs and turtles...
