The DU Lounge

(146,218 posts)(and those have been the worst times), there has, in my experience, always been at least one clique.
It is primarily composed of long term lounge members.
There are lots of inside jokes. Posts often reference directly or indirectly other members of the group.
It is very difficult to break in. New people are generally ignored or even openly challenged.
If you are not a regular, posting something personal in there would probably be a big mistake.
If sufficiently motivated, people can join the club, but the amount of effort involved is pretty high.
I don't mean any of this as criticism. It is what it is. And it is, thankfully, a relatively peaceful and fun place for the members who are regulars right now.
The point really is about locking threads in GD because "they really belong in the lounge". If not a lounge regular, you probably really don't want your thread in the lounge.
I know I don't.
