(27,573 posts)I had 7 operations on my foot in less than a year. The walker was real handy, particularly in the bathroom, where I was lucky to already have a shower with a seat in it. I used the wheelchair at first for all but the shortest of trips. I got tired so easily, you see. I could tell how much I was able to do, and ditched the wheelchair when I was ready, then the walker. Today I use a cane but can get by without one.
Except for sleeping in bed at night, I spent almost all my early recovery time at home in my favorite recliner with my feet up, watching TV. Mrs. Lasher brought me everything I needed. She is an angel.
I know pain management can be challenging when you've had a knee replacement. I've been worried that Peggy in this respect and hope she is not hurting much. Pain medication is available for good reasons and this is one of them.
