a pretty good system for foiling thieves, for clothing, anyway...
Instead of tags, they use little colored plastic thingies that go through the item.
Each color corresponds to a specific price.
Other stuff, like books and records , etc., the prices are set by type of item.
Household items use stickers that are nearly impossible to remove. I used to complain a lot about those stickers, but I suppose they make sense if people are removing them and putting cheaper ones in their place.
