NOTE: For the DU folks that are my Facebook friends, I have not yet posted anything on this subject on Facebook because not all of my family members know, so please keep this between DU until I make a FB post.
My Nonni passed away tonight.
She had cancer three times, but went into the hospital last week after falling. At first we thought it was just another routine hospital stay; she has anemia and often got dizzy and had to go to the hospital to get her blood checked.
However, after her speech became impaired, an MRI was performed and the doctors discovered a brain tumor. Literally overnight she lost consciousness and never recovered.
Luckily, when I went for my final visit to the hospital she was alert and knew who I was.
It's very sad, but at least she didn't suffer long. She was in really bad shape these last few days, and I wonder if it was worse for her or us to watch her slip away so quickly.
Anyway, here is a post I made about her a few years ago on DU. It was archived in my old DU Journal so I hope you're still able to view it.
