Condolences about the moment of pained feelings.

You are witness to your distresses, thus there is a separation; they are not you. But they are yours to experience.
Experiences come and go.

Keep the separation and know that that which you witness, that which you can objectify (including feelings) is not "you", the subject, the 'self'.
Distresses come and go but the "self-witness' is constant.
The only reason that people don't embrace distress when it comes is our innate awareness of our true nature as 'happy-conscious-being'.
Those folk with the trips and stuff are simply masking bigger, secret distress in their own lives. The seemingly blessed and the seemingly cursed are equal as 'conscious-being' buffeted by bad (and good).
