bromberg was always one of my favorites. i used to see him play about once a month at places like wise fool's pub, biddy mulligan's, etc on the north side of chicago in the late 70s and all through the 80s. i remember one time sitting at the bar at biddy's (which is where i discovered the blues as an 18 year old kid and where i first saw buddy guy, albert collins, fenton robinson, luther allison, james cotton, etc) which was right next to the stage, while bromberg was playing one night....he reached into his sport coat pocket in the middle of a song, pulled out a craftsman spark plug socket, put it on his pinky and ripped into a slide guitar solo.
