(9,681 posts)30. A while back we had one from a company wanting to waterproof our basement. I kept
telling them we don't have a basement, calls kept coming. So finally I said ok, let them make a free estimate appointment (they were coming from out of town). The day they came I took them to the crawlspace opened the door and said "you first". They haven't called back.

I've heard that pretending to be a suicide who needs to be talked down is a good ploy.

If a number shows up on caller ID that I don't know, I just let it go to voicemail.
