Because, otherwise, if it was just another one of my happy dreams about Amsterdam, I wouldn't have recalled that much about it after I woke up.

I just don't understand why I would lie to Gene Hackman like that. And why Gene Hackman of all people. It's not as if his name came up for me lately.

I think that I was paying some price for being generally happy in a place that I loved and being careless about it.
