to avoid answering the question allows himself to be used for just that.

I'd love to see a reporter, called on after a non-answer like that, to say, "Could you answer the previous question?"

Used to be the press in this country had more of collective spine.

Corporate consolidation of the media has absolutely gutted American journalism.
