5. Are people just now finding out about this?

The vets going over has been one of the bright spots in my life since the election. It gives me hope that when shit starts hitting the fan, there ARE going to be people who will be willing to fight for the rights and safety of complete strangers.

But at the same time, it's also been disheartening due to the lack of knowledge of even the existence of this issue, in the general population. I'm out of the country (have been for a couple months), so I don't get US news except online. The DAPL has been all over the sites and forums I visit all that time. But it's only been since the water cannons were used a week or so ago, and then the news that a large group of vets were going that I've seen it anywhere on FB. A friend posted something after the water cannons and I was flabbergasted at how many responded that they didn't even know anything was going on over there.

Is this just not on the news in the US? What story, if any, is being told?
