they attract the support of those dissatisfied with the usual line-up of governors and sanators.

In addition, Trump's way of speaking appeals to those with knee-jerk reactions to old straight white man problems: his words are noticeably less polished than those of "experienced" politicians.

Thus, Trump can maintain the image of an outsider, which appeals to a large chuck of the GOP part of the 99%. (Because the GOP part of the 1 % collectively wants him to shut up, I tell you.)
