4. They're already using SWAT tens of thousands of times a year.

SWAT was supposed to be for barricaded suspects, hostage situations, and other exceptional circumstances.

But now, it's routinely used for drug raids. And those "no knock," bust-the-door-down-in-the-middle-of-the-night raids are increasingly common, too.

The Ogden raid was one of those paramilitarized, no-knock raids. I'm not clear on this incident yet.

These aggressive raids result in too many people killed, and nine out of 10 of them are not cops, but civilians.

They also result in gun-owning homeowners being killed after they meet night-time intruders gun in hand. Where the drug war and our love of guns intersect is very scary and dangerous territory.
