9. Is Salon trying to profit from hysteria? The story clearly

says that "Chavez had acquired a Colt .45 pistol," and later that he was searching for another kind, Yet they top the story with a picture of three rifles that have nothing to do with the case, with no information at all that says he had even one. The Tulsa World story had roughly the same info without the pics, at least in my browser.

But they do resemble the one's allegedly used in CT. Are they hoping to provoke another, or just make some money off of dead and dying children by introducing phony and emotional information, pictures of the type used in the shooting later?

While I realize sensationalism sells, maybe part of the reason we can't stop this is because media outlets are speaking out of both sides of their face, making money in either direction.

Bartlesville (a place the spell checker is apparently not aware of) is a nice little town, built with old oil money. My dad lived there during the Depression years, and since his dad was a viciously mean drunk, he often went to sleep in the sand traps at the old golf course to stay out of range.
