In May, he voiced his "serious concerns about attempts by regional airlines to reduce pilot requriments that he wawrned would weaken safety."

Why remain in a position you were hired for to address safety in the skies if people are NOT going to listen ? If these puddle-jumpers are putting profit margins ahead of air safety - and peoples' lives - why would he want to continue in that role ? His resignation sends a powerful message.
