But ... That vaccination rate sounds a little high to me. There are rural pockets and some larger city pockets where the rate is somewhat lower.
In my area the vaccination rate is only 43%. The infection rate was listed as "substantial" until the end of May. Then it dropped considerably to "low." Days at a time with no new cases. 2 months with no deaths.
Then it started climbing, just a few at a time, with some hospitalizations. Category now has gone from "low" to "moderate." On Monday, the infection number had doubled over the weekend, with new hospitalizations and one death. More cases today. I think that the lull was the end of alpha and the increase is the start of delta - in an area with only 43% vaccinated.
Getting nervous.
