The greatest land-based intensity of that earthquake was only a 3 on the Japanese scale, meaning that things might have rattled around for a little bit but there wouldn't be any damage to speak of. No tsunami warnings were issued in Japan, and even if they had been, they would have been for tsunamis of less than 1/2 meter (20 inches) in height for that kind of magnitude that far offshore and that far beneath the surface. The waves generated by the recent typhoon were higher than that.
