It's amazing how the plaintiff's attitude toward their case changes they when realize they have something they can lose. It also freaks out the plaintiff's attorney.

BTW, a cross-complaint doesn't even have to be related to the original cause of action. Personally, I think the family ought to go after Zimmerson for wrongful death and intentional infliction of emotional distress, like the Goldmans did with O.J. after he was acquitted at the criminal trial. Goldman won that case easily.
