...to a foul smelling car parked in our parking lot. Two elderly people decided to commit suicide in a rental car using a portable gas powered generator to kill themselves. The suicide note mentioned that they didn't want to be a burden on their children. This, IMO, happened because of this countries for profit heath care system. I have no children and no prospect of having anybody but the state to care for me if the I lose my capacity to care for myself. I understand why those two people chose their exit but I also see that their situation could have been easily remedied by a more compassionate and proactive publicly provided health care system.
