8. I think we have a plan.

Over the past couple of years it has been embarrassingly easy to predict what President Obama is going to do because the legislation foretold it--and Republicans don't read it.

So the other shoe in all this, I think, is going to be a short but spectacularly damaging campaign against Republican Members of Congress. They voted this summer to hold the middle class tax cuts hostage in favor of tax cuts for the rich, and now taxes will go up an average of $1600 a year for most Republican voters. Virtually every Republican up for reelection defied the Tea Party and Grover Norquist, and while neither of them are honest enough to say it, we are, and we certainly will say it.

"Voted against a middle class tax cut extension" is the kiss of death for any Member of Congress, and that's the card up our sleeve. The fact that we bagged all of them on that is a testament to the political genius of this President and Democratic Members of Congress.

We'd sure as hell better use that advantage, or we face the prospect of a hollow reelection not unlike 1996, where Bill Clinton had an easy time with his own reelection, but had to fight off an attempted coup in Congress in subsequent years.
