23. Why must all these threads devolve into Luddites v. Techies, Apple/Andriod?

I've owned Androids and I've owned iPhones. I have an iPad, and I'm purchasing Nexus 7 tablets as gifts for Christmas. They're all wonderful devices. Lots can be said about the labor conditions under which ALL of these devices are made, but as far as pure functionality goes, Android and Apple leapfrogging one another means you and I get better toys to play with, no matter which version we choose. And for those who don't have/don't like smart phones, fair enough, but please do realize that millions of people do like and use smart phones.

Regarding the new iPhone 5 itself, I think it's a pretty worthy upgrade. As a photographer who owns lots of expensive equipment, I'm most impressed with the new phone's camera, which has a 5-element lens and an f/2.4 lens. Yes, it's also 8MP, but that doesn't matter nearly as much as the lens construction and the maximum aperture. It looks to me like Apple is releasing a solid product.
