17. I'm retired, so I don't have any extra money to invest, as I need what income I have for

living expenses.

But of my equity to fixed-income ratio (fixed income = bonds, cash equivalents), I'm probably around 9:1. (I have about an 18 year life expectancy, so I expect to outlast any downturn). I am moving money towards fixed income as it becomes available, mostly to have more money to buy stocks when the S&P 500 falls 25% below it's peak.

A short recent rant-and-rave on equities and Vanguard's S&P 500 index fund averaging an annualized 11.18% since its 1976 inception --

On EDit - I see the market closed ... S&P 500 at 2633, down 10.14% from its 2930 peak.
DOW down 559 today, to 24,389
