it's a big LOSE-LOSE for Romney. He is either seen top capitulate to blackmail and pay the money or we have his returns. He loses either way.

I'm ignoring issues of morality here not because they aren't important, but only because I want to take at the possible consequences from an amoral perspective. (I, too, think it stinks morally if it is true.)
