13. Might this seat now be competitive?

Sanford managed 46% and the winner barely topped 50%. I'm not sure whether this might indicate a schism of sorts among GOP voters in this district, but if a blue wave largely fueled by a need to put the brakes on Trump results in a closer race, then it might be closer yet where an incumbent goes down to a primary defeat. Some of Sanford's loyal supporters might pass on the '18 Congressional race, and others might actually vote for Democratic candidate Joe Cunningham. I recall that Stephen Colbert's sister ran against Sanford when the seat was open some years ago, and she lost but not by a landslide. Some surprises will be in store come November, hopefully this race might be one of them.
