I don't believe that ANYONE here is hoping for that.

Senator Schumer's response and analysis is the only correct one. "Trump has legitimized a brutal dictator who's starved his own people" (and murdered his own family members). This wasn't a "step in the right direction" it was a misstep... it was a mistake.
