I never liked meat and finally decided that I would give myself permission to eat what I wanted, rather than what others thought I should eat. We're all different.

Yes. Unreimbursed costs simply drain resources that have to be replaced later at hellish expense.

A lot of people simply don't care about cruelty/enviro impact. Especially 'ugly, greedy Americans'.
