The thing was, the county the guy lived in voted not to have fire protection, so they had to pay the city for it.

The thing was, the county was rich and the city poor, and the city had no way to enforce payment, so some of the rich in the county decided they could make the poor pay for their fire protection.

The city finally got tired of it and wouldn't put out the fire.

Sad for the guy, but someone finally got tired of paying for the rich, and I think it's a good thing. Finally get to see what happens when you vote for those republican policies.
