In reply to the discussion: Colin Powell Offers Uncensored View Of The Clintons In Leaked Emails [View all]JNelson6563
(28,151 posts)30. Ok, no.
I see this thought put forth often enough, I need to comment.
I was in politics for some years, local and state level stuff. When I was chair of our Congressional district, I knew *never* to put anything in writing I would not want the world to see. (Even at such lowly levels one has adversaries.) Shit, I learned about not writing personal things in high school decades before that.
So no, someone who has been on the world stage should not get a pass for putting that into writing, as it were. He knew the risk and it has been realized. Judging by his hopefully dismissive response my guess is he is well aware of this and is currently hanging out with some familiar acquaintances; hindsight and regret.

Whoever hacked those type personal emails probably will only "leak them" if needed.

This looks like a personal email sent privately and never meant for publication. It became public

Didn't he accuse Clinton of lying a few weeks ago about the email advice he gave her?

Not a national security issue but the hack was for sure embarrassing for Powell and the Clinton's.

Authentic emails can still be altered. Did he see them all and vouch they are all 100% accurate?
