Don't believe it. The effective reach of the Right Wing propaganda machine goes well beyond just the fringe nutters. The mainstream media often simply reflexively echoes stories from the Right.

And I know someone who I generally consider left-of-center who said he wasn't going to vote for Obama because of the Fast and Furious nonsense, echoing the full-blown NRA conspiracy theory.

The crazy spreads like a virus.
