us the demon weed makes us play the piano and rape women and inject heroin. Some see "... zero difference between e-cigs and Big Tobacco, they're all the same" despite the data from reputable sources.

Everyone has their own science, eh?

Big difference between analog and e-ig. One is a product that has additives which contain tars and chemicals, the other a dosing system, kind of like a syringe, which only contains what is added. It need not contain ANY of those extra additives.

Note that I used the qualifier "need".

Because of those who thus block rational treatment of the subject, common sense regulations have been bypassed to pander to the hysterics. One could make a presidential campaign out of that.

Common sense regulations such as, say, banning the use of formaldehyde. Not selling them from a cup on the counter at the convenience store. Listening to the advice of real doctors who point out that e-cigs actually do prevent early death for millions of people. Listening to patints who have found that this experience was the one that helped them quit, after they had wasted years and a lot of money trying multiple ways to quit. Those stories are out there by the millions.

Better to quit altogether, sure, but not better to kill the patient to satisfy some personal agenda. That escapes some.

Then again, this is the country that brought democracy to Iraq. Look at how well that is going.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 1 billion people will die prematurely from cigarette use in the next century, and previous opponents of e-cigarettes are becoming more supportive. “It’s always better to quit nicotine use completely,” said Deborah Arnott, Chief Executive of UK health charity Action on Smoking and Health. “But it’s the smoke that kills you - not the nicotine - so for smokers who are heavily addicted switching to safer sources of nicotine could literally be a lifesaver.”

There are a lot of sources for what is "in" e-cigs, yet there is such a variety and lack of regulation this is almost unknowable. Which is why I, and most everyone I know, puts their own mix or e-juice in their e-cig device.

In other words, there is no nicotine in mine. You cannot make assumptions about these, you need to read the label. If there is one.
Btw, when they actually do measure the amounts of harmful substance, which might be created by heating, many times the temps are so low that they are nearly non-existent. Even the nicotine, sans all the other chemicals in a tobacco cigarette, seems to have far different effects. And, when they need to get off the nicotine, it is simply added in lower and lower doses until they no longer need it. Won't help 15% of us, but better than killing millions.

Or, one could follow another path.

I think it's worth learning more, but ymmv.
Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death. Worldwide, tobacco use causes nearly 6 million de jtuck004 Apr 2016 #1
