I was an early adapter to fluorescents, because I got used to them over in Europe.

I'd prefer almost anything to a CFL. Mine hum all the time. I buy LEDs all I can.

I use some at home. They do last a long time, but seems they do a number on the eyes.

But I'm only talking of the tiny LED's that are a bear to install, made by GE and sold at Lowe's.

I grew up in TX, so no lack of sunlight. Moved north where it rains a lot and the hours of daylight

We did our whole house last year with LEDs - mostly 6in. recessed can retrofits from Cree lighting.
